digg it!

Submit to SlashdotI used to play a lot of computer games when I was in middle school and elementary. My favorite game genres were RPGs and strategy where you build a bunch of stuff. Unfortunately, I had this habit of cheating. Before I graduated from console video games, I always rented the famed Game Genie. Sadly, I really don’t know if I actually beat a video game without cheats.
When I moved on to computer games, I would search the Internet for known exploits, hacks, and cheats for Starcraft, Warcraft, Caesar, Jagged Alliance, and Civilization. But, you can only find so much. I needed a “computer game genie.”
These are the steps to using Cheat-o-Matic. We’ll use the Microsoft Pinball game as an example.
First, open the program and note the number that you want changed. In this example, I want to change the score to 99,999,999.
Then, open Cheat-o-Matic and select the program running that is the actual game. In this example, it is “3D Pinball for Windows.”
Input the number that you want changed. In this case, I want to change 4500.
Change the number in the game. This change in number will help COM isolate the placeholder that holds the score. In this example, we change the score to 67,500.
Again, input the number you want changed. Of course, ours is 67,500.
Cheat-o-Matic found the variable that holds the score! Sometimes, it will ask you one more time to change the number because there is still more than one possibility. Now, you can enter whatever value you want. Of course, I want the high score so I’ll enter some outlandishly high number like 99,999,999.
One cool feature on this screen is the ability to “bookmark” this variable. If ever you want to change the score again on another day, just input the displayed code when you come across step #3.
Another great feature is the ability to lock a number. That means that it will never change in the game. This is really great if you want unlimited magic or health points. Essentially, is an invincibility or infinity function.
And of course, the score was changed.Con
The bad thing about this program is that it requires a variable, changeable number. The number needs to be changed about three times. You can’t just enter 150 and expect the program to know that you want to increase your magic points. There are going to be many instances of 150 in the game’s memory. Change helps isolate that placeholder variable.
Memory scanning technology is pretty old but it is a sure-fire brute-force way to manipulate a game. Even though this program is decrepit - I mean 1998, before the Internet bubble - it can be used in any modern game. Happy cheating!
Update: I heard Poke is another good similar program.

pretend you are dealing with lives. lose a life (i know you would rather
not) and then tell the cheat program how many lives you have. it will
then do a search and ask you to change the value again. lose another
life and then tell the cheat program how many lives you have (again).
after 2 or three cycles of this, you will be able to control that value
now that the cheat program has isolated the variable that holds this value.

This software are very nice for CS, you type 255 and mark the “lock” button. After that you can’t die, only if 4-5 players are spraying at ya

HOW DO i MAKE IT WORK??? I WANNA GHANGEMY CASH VALUE, AT PLANT TYCOON. CAN I DOO THAT?
March 19th, 2008 at 7:56 am
Explaining:
When it asks you to change the value ingame, you must change the value of what you put before.
i.e.: You want to change your money in Sim City 4.
You put your money, then, when it asks to change, just reduce or increase the money ingame. Then, put the new value and press “Search”.
When it finishs, you insert the amount of money you want.
Hopefully that I help all of you.

April 18th, 2008 at 2:12 am
This does not work for mac
Nothing does =[
April 18th, 2008 at 10:19 am
does is work in chocolatier 2? well, i tried it but when it did what it said (2-3 times) it says: it didn’t find the number. Why???
April 18th, 2008 at 12:56 pm
@ms.y
It won’t work in every games because for example in flash games the values are stored in 8 times multiphied. For example in a flash game if you have
3 health, then search for 3 x 8 =24
then lose 1 health search for 2 x 8 =16
So if cheat o matic won’t work, then use Cheat Engine! http://cheatengine.org

^ With Cheat Engine you can search for unknown values too.

Hasn’t worked on ANY modern game I’ve tried it with… maybe designers got smart, maybe it’s winXP incompatible, but it works fine for old games (old meaning like, Command and Conquer) but it cant find anything in any of the new games I’ve tried.

OMG! didn’t think the G.O.D. [Gathering Of Developers] Chief Programmer’s “software-made-out-of-boredom aka cheat-o-matic’s available for download here.
Nonetheless, thank you for ensuring it’s existence.

This works like a charm, however if you are running on Vista use 98/2000 Compatability mode and run as an administrator. I was laughin it away with Insaniquarium a few minutes ago, this thing is pure genius. I even bet Microsoft at their own games!
Thank-you loads!
Just follow the instructions like it says above…
